I know K&N are good. Some folks like the BMC. Anybody have experience with the aFe filters themselves? They seem to get pretty good reviews on other sites but I have grown to trust the opinions of the folks on here.

Reason I'm asking a local shop is running a deal on their inventory and I can get a heck of a good price on the filter. The deal is not just on aFe but everything so it's not like they are trying to blow out the aFe products they have on hand.

I am running their "Pro Dry S" replacement filter (#31-10144). i also ran it on my previous vehicle never with any problems at all. No need to oil, just a quick tap and vacuum and your all set. That way you never take the risk of over-oiling the filter during maintance and ruining your MAF which BTW was very very easily done on Benz's.

Thanks Jason. I'm going to give on a try. At less than $50 how can I go wrong?

I had a K&N in my M3 and one time a shop cleaned and oiled it. Driving away from the shop the Check Engine light came on and like you said they had over oiled the filter. Luckily no damage was done.

how could you go wrong? you could waste $50 trying to figure out if the product is any good or you could buy the BMC filter that is already a proven product lol

As discussed many times on here, the AFE CAI loses power. We are talking about just the Replacement drop in filters.

PTL, you always have the smart a** answer don't you? Another forum member has already stated that he uses the filter and likes it. Why do you always have to be like this? Maybe I should go into every thread and do the same thing. That would be one heck of a way of boosting my post count at the same time.
