My transmission was recently replaced under warranty, luckily it happened now because my warranty runs out in a month. Well, anyway, I was just wondering if there is a break-in period for the transmission?

Thank you

For a steptronic auto, I'd say not. Although I'd still take it a little easy for a few 100 miles to make sure everything settles in and is OK. I wouldn't do any redline shifts, full throttle kick downs, hard launches, etc for that period. Sport mode should be fine.

Do I have to get the transmission fluid flushed because of possible metal shavings? And what do you think of the BMW transmission fuid that never needs to be changed? I have heard mixed feeling about it.

I have never heard of a break-in fluid change for any auto transmission. Manuals, differentials, engines, yes but auto transmissions, no.

You can't drive the car over 50 mph for the first 20,000 miles. After that, you can let loose.

The last maintenance release said if you do 2 fluid flushes after the first 5,000 miles than you can go up to 75 after 25,000 miles.
