Hey guys, Im about to jump on a multimedia upgrade kit, I have a 6 inch 1st gen Idrive. Wanting watch videos from my ipod mainly. Anyways I did some fair amount of research about doing this.
But before I decide, I would love to hear about your experiences with your kit and which seller did you get them from. I know there's modmynav, there's also xcarlink and also some ebay ones. Anyways thanks for the future inputs

My Ride: 2008 535i LCI with sports/premium package, Sports trans with paddle shifters, CF emblems, JB4 Software, Dinan Exhaust, Navigation, M5Tech body kit, Carbon wrap interrior trim and CIC Controller.
I have the xcarlink and like it a lot. If want the back up camera option the is a wire supplied in their harness that instructs you to connect to backup power to signal for the reverse camera. I simply used the power from the rear lights and then to a relay. Perfect! The modmynav I understand is incorporated in the plug connection but the cost for the unit is a lot more. Xcarlink can be purchased off eBay at a make offer price for around 200.00.

I gotta modmynav now I'm spoiled every song I listen to I want some accompanying video the one thing I would say is if you into music videos and are particular about sound quality be prepared to spend your weekend enhancing your downloaded videos demuxing sound boosting volume ect. YouTube downloader and hansbrake could be some usefully tools to use. My latest fix has been transferring music content recordings from my tivo onto my ipod especially episodes of mtv unplugged and live concerts from fuse tv like jayz live @ sxsw. Playing these on long trips makes the time just fly by.
