IMO, Eddie, updates are up to you. They are costly. I believe about all the updates have are more roads and POIs.

She doesn't know it but when I update mine the old one goes in Mrs. sixccard's E90.

I don't know of any source for a discounted update disc. Old editions can be found, however.

I have a very old disc (2004) and am looking to update now. There have been some highway changes in Chicago over the last year which are not on my current disc.

Well Eddie, you got that advice from a SALESMAN...what were you expecting him to say?? My advice would be to stick with what you have for now, and when the database for your Nav gets to be a few years old, then decide. Even with rampant growth, (not for a while now I expect) streets are not added too often, so you should be just fine!

I would say it depends on where you live and how often do you travel. I honestly dont think its worth it ( really at all ) if you buy a new DVD every year. Id say maybe every 3 years it might be worth it, but as other have mentioned youre only gonna get new roads and database info. So if youre in the same city all the time, dont expect too much.

I would say every few years and not every year. The reason is that there won't be many changes from one year to the next. Over a period of a few years, however, there will be many changes to POIs as well as roads so an update is more worthwhile.

I concur... I have the 2007 disc and we are going into 2009. I have absolutely no issues. Though, I am contemplating getting a new one next year. Who knows...

But the POI's might have to be updated weekly with all mergers of banks and the companies that are closing plants or going out of business!
