huge shift shock

My Ride: 530xi 07' fully loaded...stock :(
i have a 530xi and a 535xi and my brother has a 328i all automatic cars unfortunately city life just easier with auto, but since day i got my car and so on my upshifting sometimes feels like it slams in gear, same thing when im in manual mode, more often is from 2nd to 1st is really where it bangs, same with my brothers 328 samer with the 535...its friggin weird im wondering if anyone is having these problems..i hear its happening to alot of ppl with 07 models..by the way all the cars are 07...its annoying like i was on the way back from city coming to a stop at the redlight one of my buddies was pasted out when i came to the stop it geared down and it was like a small jump enough to wake up my buddy with these words "is this smg?" then he looked at it then said "wow i kinda like the feel of your automatic" but i dont... lol help!

Probably your mechatronics that is busted. The pistons don't operate smoothly which makes it bang into gear as soon as the pressure is high enough to finally move the piston.

The D mode uses 2nd to start rolling, unless one is on a very steep hill. DS mode always starts in 1st gear. Once the vehicle is moving, there is usually no further need for 1st gear, unless the vehicle is ascending a very steep hill at a low speed. Otherwise, a 2nd-to-1st gear shift should not occur under normal operation.

I've also had this issue with my 530xi...i had brought it back to BMW since I thought that it was something with the transmission and it was slipping into gear...it felt like the car was "jumping" into gear like you said....when i got the car back they said "the car was NOT repeating the issue that I had complained about"...it might have not repeated the issue but they could also be saying that so they don't have to do a transmission swap...either way they just replenished my transmission fluid and it hasn't happened lately. ya i should take it in, and yes in D mode it almost never goes into 1st unless you on a hill and in DS or you controlling gears it will never automatically downshift to first either, but what im saying is when it does happen back to first its ruff and also from 3rd to 2nd is ruff sometimes upshifts are ruff to
