Need some advice on removing the exterior chrome trim on my E60. I am working on applying some vinyl on it and it is hella hard working with the vinyl when the trim is on the car. That and I am parked in an indoor parking garage and don't have adequate lighting plus can't do it outside cause its winter and no sun around these days.

From what I picked up the trim is connected to the car via clips. I got this info from older BMWs so wasn't sure if this was the same with the E60. I also picked up that I simply start pulling gently and the trim will start to come off. Question is what is a safe way to pull the trim off? Anyone successfully do this on here?

Thanks!

Based on the diagram here, it looks like it is partially screwed down.

You found the right DIY for the project, just be VERY careful not to bend the pieces when you remove them as they are pretty flimsy! I did this a few years ago on my old 545i and I was very pleased with the results, but I also just replaced the chrome pieces with the shadowline pieces. Good luck and let us know how it all turns out!

One final note, when I installed the pieces at the bottom of the windows, I sprayed a little WD-40 as a lubricant to allow them to slip back on without bending them (they bend very easily!). again, good luck!
