The IBS ( intelligent battery sensor ) is located on the negative terminal of the battery connection. Some members have had issues with it causing battery drain errors. It is just a little ironic.

Keep keys away from car with comfort access. Key in proximity prevents vehicle from entering sleep mode.

Rudy, I read thru the SIB and noticed there was a big change in 05 regarding the CAS and the micro power module. It said parts were discontinued and such for the older cars. I have two questions.
1) Is the system in my 01/04 vehicle going to need to be upgraded to the new system ( with upgraded CAS ) if any one of the related parts fail?
2) How many modules would I need to buy in order to make the change over, and if out of warranty what kind of cost would you expect? ( since the parts are discontinued it looked like instead of replacing just the one problem module, I would need to change over multiple modules to upgrade to the current system ).

I had problems with IBS- easy test is to disconnect the small lead that goes to a blue plug by the rear light. Leave car overnight- if batterygoes flat overnight still, not IBS causing it. Dont bother buying 2nd hand one- I did, it only lasted 1 year. In UK, new IBS+ adaptor for latest costs ?130 approx. DONT believe people on ebay saying they cost ?300, whilst selling one for ?195. true - was on ebay last week.

I think, but again, am not 100% certain, that when a module or part is discontinued, the newer part is backward compatible to older cars so as not to force a "domino effect" of module replacements, etc. as you describe in your second question. I really have no idea about any costs other than to look them up on http://www.realoem.com and get an idea of the retail price. Keep in mind that most modules need some sort of coding or programming to work with the car. The CAS module, if I recall correctly, controls a TON of stuff so clearly it would need to be programmed before it would function well.
Hope that helps...
