I love the Aux input connection for my iPod.

I would like some ideas as to best way to operate in the car without causing an accident.

My iPod is in my glove compartment.

For power, I am using a Griffin car adapter is plugged in to the socket behind the glove compartment.

The fixed volume output on the adapter is plugged in to the Aux Input using a short lead I got from Radio Shack.

I have a Griffin wireless control unit so I can keep the glove compartment closed and rely on shuffle play to select the next track.

Jstchecking, just check the FAQ section of this board

iPOD FAQ on e60.net Forums

I'm going with the Monster FM broadcaster solution until a hardware solution that fully integrates iPod control into iDrive becomes available.

wait till september and the same iPod connector unit as made for Mini, will be available for BMW. (so no AUX cable, but you will have most functions through steering wheel buttons)
