After months of searching for a hitch installer for the '04-'06 E60, I finally found one.

But the installer is telling me that a roof rack is more flexible in terms of what it can carry and it only takes five minutes to take the whole thing on or off. I'm told the initial fitting takes quite a bit of time, but after the settings are all made, the two bike attachment holds the settings in place. Afterwards, all that has to be done is to place the roof rack on top of the car and use the fast clip buckles to latch it on.

I'm a realtor and wouldn't want any part of the roof rack on the car when I am not carting around my bike, so this is very important to me.

Does anyone take their roofrack on and off when transporting their bike? Does it only take five minutes? Is there any risk of scratching the car?

Alternatively, the bike hitch is very light weight, around 15lbs and is attached by drilling two holes through the bottom of the trunk. It should be recessed by an inch or less behind the bumper, but there is a chance it will be flush and noticeable. It is only strong enough to hold two bikes, but that is plenty for me.

Thanks for your help and input!

Will

I had a BMW Roofrack on my old E39 and it took me hours to put it on as the settings changed all the time with differnet weights and stuff.
