I have non nav. E60 and have been reading a little about those of you that got the nav tv thing and I went to a few audio/video places and one place has heard of it and said he put it in one customers car a few years ago and said he would never do it again, that it looks like something home made from radio shack parts and he said he tried to talk the customer out of it, but customer wanted it in so he did it and has had many problems....... Just asking what you guys think of it, it sounds very cool to pop in a dvd and watching it (or listening to it as you drive) and just the flat out WOW factor when people get into your car... just wondering if you regret it or if you had any problems w/idrive because of it. Or worse BMW voiding your warranty (even though I read on that web site that it doesn't)

Speaking of WOW factor and in-car video, I have a story about an early morning cab ride to the airport from downtown Taipei...

The cab was a well-optioned Maxima-bodied Nissan, would have been an Infiniti here no doubt. The car had a TV screen. There was music on when I got in, but after a few minutes, the driver put his thumbs and index fingers together in the shape of a CD and pointed at the radio and gave me a look as if to ask could he put a CD on. (or at least that's what I thought)

I nodded okay. A few seconds later, hardcore asian porn appeared on the screen and remained there for the rest of the drive. Pretty funny - there was sheeting rain coming down, and I kept wondering if the driver was paying enough attention to the road.

Hmmm, never thought of that. I can just see the headlines now - "Previously unregistered sex offender found dead in a ditch after running off the road while watching (fill in the blank) porn on iDrive....MAP (Mothers Against Porn) file suit against BMW....."

Hi Dominic,
Have you sorted out the PAL problem yet or has Hobi been too busy to sort things out for you? Doesn't help that he has a bad back for the past little while. Did the group buy ever happen?
