If the valve stems are metal you have TPMS. If they are rubber, you have FTM.

Your car has FTM system.

but seeing that you have FTM, wheels with TPMS will work as well. the FTM system uses the rotation of the wheel via wheel speed sensors to measure if the tire is low.

The TPMS uses actual sensors in each wheel. If you have TPMS sensors in the wheels they will still work because your car uses the rotation vs. sensors.

But when you sell those wheels you can use them on either TPMS equipped or FTM equipped cars.

+1 with your e60 having FTM. A way to verify for yourself is thru your iDrive...under tire pressures it shold say FTM, not TPMS's....

Whether or not you have FTM's or TPM's does not effect if a wheel is compatible for your car. If you had TPM's, then you'd just need to purchase TPM sensors. But since you have FTM's you don't need any extra equipment, just buy the wheels, mount the tires, reset the FTM's via iDrive, and enjoy the new wheels...
