On most DPF cars, the DPF makes two functions: catalytic and particle filter, but the 535d has it separately. The catalytic is near to the turbo and the DPF is at the middle of the car. One big concern about the chiptuning in the 535d is the increase of the exhaust temperature that makes premature wear of the turbos, mainly because of the catalytic that block the exhaust flow. This it increase the gases pressure between turbo and catalytic, and with the higher pressure cames the higher temps too. I was thinking in take off the catalytic and leave only the DPF. Does anyone know if the DPF will work properly without the catalytic?
The catalytic has three sensors: O2, temp and pressure. And only has the second O2 sensor in the DPF. So if i manage a way to connect the three sensors in the catalytic bypass, i think it won't have any problem with the engine check light.
