Is it possible to change it without taking out the headlight or the bumper?

I'm pretty sure you don't need to take out the headlight assembly or bumper. I had replaced my daytime running lights by removing the round plastic cover behind the headlight to access the bulbs. I think there's a rectangular plastic cover behind the xenon bulbs that can be removed.

you will have to remove the headlight assembly but you don't need to remove bumper at all. there are 4 screws involved, 2 on top, 2 at the bottom of the headlight. after remove all the screws, remove the cap for the day time running light in order to take the whole headlight off. you will have to move the headlight with some weird angle to take the headlight out.

i replaced mine with 8000k hid bulbs, looks pretty neat at nite with the contrast of yellow angel eyes.

Nice, I was thinking of doing the same thing! Kind of silly of BMW to make you take the whole assembly out to replace bulbs though..

Can you take some pictures to show us which screws (top and bottom) to remove and how did you move the headlight assembly to some weird angle ? A picture is way better than million words.

Thanks,

to upgrade your hid's , you will only need the bulb?? am i right or wrong ?? also does anyone happen to kno what kind of bulbs the angel eyes work with and can those be changed to hid or a hid look alike?

He meant to upgrade the HID bulb's temperature from 4200K to 8000K. The bulb was still D2S type.
Not sure about the bulb for angel eyes.

Thanks,
