Is this wheels after market? If so it might be an incorrect hub centric size and it will require a hub ring to get the correct fitment for your car...

Not entirely true. I have some 20s on my car and I did so much custom work to make sure they were hub centric on the rim and hub centric to the car and I still got vibration. Most likely a balance issue and sears autocenter sucks. Im pretty sure BMW should be able to do it if Discount tire cant

No. No.
You need a wheel and tire specialist, not a repair shop that has a machine, no matter what kind it is. There are fundamentals to getting wheels and tires to run true, and if the "nut behind the wheel" doesn't know them, these errors are just going to be magnified on a 20" setup. If your vibration occrurs at all speeds, then something is not round. No amount of balancing is going to make them round either.
Find someone with a proper car in your area-- I mean a Porsche/Ferrair geek, or a Benz guy with really large wheels and tires. (This does not mean some baller with giant wheels on an Escalade.) And then get to their shop and determine if what you have is round where it's supposed to be and straight where it's supposed to be. Ideally, they have the equipment to balance them on the car too.
You've got to find the right guy. I would not own a set of big wheels and tires without someone local who could look after them.

Since it occurs at 55mph and above, it sounds like a balancing issue.

If you installed lowering springs, you should also highly consider getting an alignment for all four wheels.

Actually, no. If it occurs at speeds above that, then it most likely isn't a balancing issue. If it cam and went, then you might think it was. Most likely, you just aren't reazlizing the consequences of the out of round wheel(s)/tire(s) unitl you reach that speed. If it was a balancing issues, it would appear and re-appear, over and over. If it's constant, then something is not round. What brand are these tires and wheels? If they're not one of the really high quality names, you've probably got your answer.

This is true as well. If the wheel wasn't perfectly round somewhere in the circumference, it would make itself more evident at higher speeds. However, one would think that the tire shop would pick-up on this (or I give too much credit to the Sears folks ).

this is axis milano wheels. I have checked the roudness when I did the balancing and they said the wheels are fine.

Should I try the shop with better balancing machine?

You can balance the rims as much as you want fellas, but not going to work with some 20 inch rims out there. The E60 is clearly a hub centric car and even a hair line can throw the vibration off on the entire car. I had my 20" rims on for more than a year and did everything in my power to get it fixed, I even had the shop exchange the rims for brand new ones but got the same problem over and over . VIBRATION AT HIGH SPEEDS. It didn't feel like a BMW anymore after I put those d@mn things on .

BTW - I got fed up and took them off. Now my stock sport rims are back on and I enjoy the ride 500 times better than when I had the 20's on there. Much smoother ride, no road noise anymore, better handing believe it or not, & don't have to worry as much about pot holes . My biggest suggestion would be if you want something flashy, stick with 19's or if you really want 20's then only get BMW rims that are that size and paint them chrome. I am actually trying to find out where I can by the new 19" M5 rims. Anyone have any ideas where I can purchase a set???
