Hi guys,

I Just put 20" rims to the car and when I test drove it, I feel the steering wheel vibrates ar 55 mph ++. First time, I thought it was the balancing and I took the wheels to the sears autocentre and they balanced them. Still, I can feel the vibration at 55 mph.

the strange part is that the wheels have been balanced 3 times . Everytime the guy from the shop check, the balance seems off. They said it is very difficult to be accurate to balance 20". Is this right?

anyone with 20" have this problem? should I change the shop? Is discount tire will do better?please help me guys...so confuse.

note : I have checked the rims and they are good..no bent.

Their balance machine sucks. Just go to a tire shop that has a road force balancer, like Discount tires.

That could be the problem--take it to a real tire or performance shop who knows how to balance wheels with a Hunter or similar machine.

you gotta take that to a tire/wheel performance shop that does high speed balancing.

At the very least, your problem seems to be easily remedied.

Wherever you decide to go, explain to them what you've done already (balanced x3, etc.). This will help them pinpoint the problem.

A little off topic, but...
I can't believe some tire shops are still placing the counterweights on the lip of the rim where you could plainly see it.

personally I don't think this is a balance problem... yeah its off every time but still, it sometimes happens with 20's some ahve it some don't... my wheels are still perfect balance since april and I get vibration... its just something that may happen with 20's
