Im in the ready to buy mode for a new radar detector too. Why are you asking which is better if you feel the reviews are favoring the Passport?

Plus Stealth One will come out with a module to integrate with i-drive at some point. They currently make a module for the E39 which integrates the V1 into the instrument display. I also auto mutes on a speed you preset - ie. no sound or warning if you are driving under 30mph....also includes an auto accept for the Nav screen. Can't wait till they offer a Stealth One module for theV1 in the E60... until then the straight up V1 has saved my bacon many times.

I use a V1 and a ZR3 laser jammer. That is the best detection and protection available. The reviews are really, really biased. Advertising dollars pollutes the magazine's abilities to promote one product over another. "Independent" testing companies are often a front for a particular manufacterer and always seem to find in favor of a specific product. True objective opinions are very difficult to obtain.
I have both products Escort and V1. I think they are both exellent but I prefer the V1 because of the direction arrow. The Escort is smaller and more descrete. You will not make a bad decision with either of these choices.
