Help! New rims...Need tires
#1
Hello, I have a 05 530i w/sport package and just aquired a set of 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rear GFG wheels. I bought them with tires 245/40 and 275/35 that came off a 745. Well the back ones look like they will rub and the front ones didn't go on at all. Tire brand are Mechelin pilot sport a/s. I have read and noted different tire sizes but still unsure. Does sport package matter on choosing tires? Brand?

245/40 = 25.9" diameter tire
275/35 = 25.8" "
19" Wheel
245/40 = 26.4" diameter tire
275/30 = 25.6 " diameter (no 275/25 listed)
20" wheel
245/40 = 27.9" diameter tire
275/35 = 27.6" diameter
See the problem?
Yoy are 2 inches more in tire diamter than the OEM 18 inch wheel/tire combbination. You have to step down in ratio - ie down to 30 and 25 to keep same rolling diameter if you can even find them. Maybe in between (35 and 30 to get within an inch). And as mentioned elsewhere, you need to check the offsets as 7 series and 5 series will most likely not be the same.
