My Ride: 2008 535i Options: Sports Pkg/ Premium Pkg/ Navigation/ USB(iPod) Mods: Tint (lolololol) any ideas? I LOVE THIS CAR!!! (WAAAAAYYYYY better than my previous MB E350, but quite a bit more expensive :( )
Default

I wanted to paint the "535i" on my BMW matte black to go with everything else on the car. I plan to paint the exhaust tips this week sometime. My question was, is there any efficient way of painting them with the lettering still on the car??? I don't want to tamper with taking it off. I can think of just putting simple tape in the spaces as not to get spray paint on the car, but is there a set way people can do it???

Thanks...

oh and I wanted to know, what would look better:

1. ALL (535i) in black
2. Just (35) since ppl know it is a 5er and it is fuel injected
3. Just the (i) in black
4. Just the (535) in black.

Thanks you guys!

Jay

I think his concern is not having to remove the emblem.

On the side note, you could use vinyl and heat gun it to the emblem and then use an exacto blade to trim the excess. Otherwise, you'll need to pull it off and spray it.

Seriously, go the "extra" mile and just take off the badges. You'll know why when you get over-spray on your car. How can you seriously contemplate spraying black paint around your silver car?

The removal is really easy. However, I would just buy the black badges, because first, they will look better, second, you will have to buy new emblems anyway when you sell the car.

This goes back to the whole idea of removing badges. I've seen some cars and they actually look nice with a clean back. You can still tell if it's a V6 or V8 by the tailpipes. I've thought about removing the badges, just not sure yet. If I do remove it, it would be funny to see the next punk's face in an accord try me; thinking I only have a good exhaust.

The only thing is, this car is leased....so I dont wanna get in trouble after I remove em. I want the Matte look to match everything else (grilles, side markers, exhaust tips, shadow line) you get the point....

Plus I think my parents will flip once I remove the emblems....

just keep the OEM badges and reapply them when you turn in your lease if you are that worried about it....

highly doubt "you would get in trouble" for it tho....

member's use 3m double sided tape to apply deck lids....I would think the same could be used for the badges...hopefully someone will chime in tho...
