Looking to change out my interior lights to my 2004 530i,but need help with removal of the covers.

Which interior light you trying to change?
If u are referring to the middle top lights, you will need a flat head screw driver, and some cloth, to pry into the / wedge into the top and pull down.
Hard to explain. I'll try to take pics for your tonight if possible.

Yep,
I changed my interiors to a xenon white lights all around, front and back.
I personaly like them better then the dull yellow tint lights.
I have no issues with them, no melting, burning and installation was a snap with a small screw driver.
I wore some gloves as not to contaminate the bulbs with the oil from my fingers.
I'll work on getting you some pics.
I forget who has pics of them, do a search and see what you can find.
I think the price for a set was about $35(usd)

Should be pretty straight forward. I believe that part comes out with a flat head screw driver so it's definitely something you can DIY. Here are some shots of the kits we carry now in LED:
