Got your attention!!! Hey bimmians in SoCal, you know how bad the fwys are around here...pot hols, trucks...drbris..pebbles...gravels...you got the point..
1. How effective is the clear bra and is it worth it?
2. Are there different manufacturers?
3. Cost for your bra and how many pieces or what did it cover?
4. Warranty if car still gets dinged thru bra?
5. Discoloration?
6. Anyone with pic on light color vehicle?

I have it on my M5 and to answer your questions:

1) Pretty effective against rock chips. Unlike conventional nose bra, which must be removed in foul weather.
2) Everyone use the 3M clear plastic sheet, the difference is in the cut. and frankly they are all pretty much the same.
3) $300+ including the thicker headlight area cover, as well as the coverage on the 2 side mirrors.
4) The warranty is there but really... what is there to cover?? Sand and rock won't hurt it, but stones and other large debris can't be covered.
5)According 3M, discoloration was an issue on the earlier production years (1999~2000) The stuff that they now make will not turn yellow. My car has it 3+ years and still no issue w/ discoloration.
6) No, my car is blue it really is very discreed.

hope this helps,

beewang

Breae60, I don't think there is a warranty for getting dinged through the bra. But the bra does offer pretty good protection against the peck marks that aggressive drivers pick up. Let me see if I can find my clear bra pictures. Venture gives a five or six year warranty against discoloration or yellowing. Others may, too. Mine is some eight months old and holding up well except where I have scraped it three times before figuring out how I was doing it.

Found this picture. It is pretty hard to see the bra, but if you look very closely you will see the line sweeing across the hood starting right behind the headlight.

I got dinged through it - right between the kidney's.
I'm also noticing that it is starting to yellow - my car is white.
3M Brand.

Even with that, I still think it is better than all of the chips.

My Audi was black. I didn't have a clear bra.
When I turned it in after the lease was up, I used the "Sharpie" technique to "take care" of all the chips.

Appearantly there was a manufactuere flaw a while back, I too have a Alpine e60. You think our whites ar just more noticeable??? Supposedly, it's not suppoe to turn yellow anymore.

Sharpie's are real nice black markers that are real handy to write on CD's or if you are in the military, you can put your "Laundry Mark" on them
