Got my first ticket in the 545 last week. Friggin Malibu cops show no mercy. He couldn't shut up about how sweet my car was. I thought I was getting off for sure. Nope, not a chance. It was the end of the month and everything.

I finally found a downside to HUD.....................You know you are screwed. Its right there on the windshield. I knew exactly what his radar said. He gave me a little break. I was going 67 in a 50, and he wrote me up for 59.

Hopefully the V1 will help. The car just doesnt want to go below 80.

V1 rules. Don't even need to hardwire... just tuck the wire in behind the trim where it touches the winshield, then behind the door, etc, down to the plug in the passenger footwell. To wit:

Too bad you were nailed. Malibu canyon road from the 101 to the pacific coast highway is an excellent place to exercise your E60. Must be difficult to hold the reigns tight though.

V1 is the best.

Here's a thread with hardwire instructions--very easy to do:

I also installed the concealed display in front of the MPG gauge--here's pix:

Welcome to the ticket club, brother!

I have 3 and counting for my E60. 1 plea bargained to an "unobstructed window" (whatever) , 1 dismissed by the Judge because he was "under the impression" I was in Iraq (its in the wording written on Army letterhead) and 1 warning from some kid cop in Nebraska who thought I was a movie star.

It is a radar detector. One of the best out there, if not the best.

But V1 is actually illegal in CA. Make sure the cops don't see it, otherwise it will be confiscated.

Not so. V1 is a radar detector, and they are legal in CA. Radar jammers are illegal.
