John, Allen, why the rear window seal swap?
Good thread - I am feeling this whole next level maintenance thing![Clap](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/clap.gif)
Just had my adaptive headlamp error cleared and about to get new brakes
going with R1 Concept rotors and EBC pads this time.
Fugg yeah! I'd love to have that too! Except I don't even have a garage yet

Awesome story. I love working on cars myself. I usually help my girlfriends dad with his cars and bike and he helps me with my E60 and Acura. Even if it's something as simple as painting calipers, installing new rotors/brakes etc, it's nice to have someone around to throw back a few and shoot the shit with.

My indie (Martin of MNC) and I hooked up my car to the computer and ran the diagnostics. First we tried to clear the code and see if it comes back after restart (restart=shut off the car+wait 5 seconds+restart). Martin took his time trying to clear the code with software; running tests on the adaptive headlamp motors and "training" them. When that didn't solve the issue, he took the left headlight out and tried replacing the active headlamp module. He happened to have one laying around, so he plugged that bad boy in and the problem was gone. It could have very well been a programming issue, because all the hardware seemed to be working just fine, but the error message kept coming back, so after about an hour of trial and error, we just plugged in the spare one and it was all good

I had to swap it out Vladdy, the crumbling pieces you see in Allen's pics were how my seals really were. They were palling apart and since the OEM ones were $50 for both at ECS Tuning - I bought em. Now there is VERY little on my maintenance checklist:
Spark plugs - new 6 months ago, less than 6k miles on em
Brakes - new R1 rotors and Hawk Pads, and Motul Racing fluid (and SS brake lines, highly recommend these) 3 months ago
Control arms - replaced upper and lower 3 months ago
Diff oil, tranny fluid, and oil - fresh and clean
Rear window seals - DONE!!!!
Only thing really left are to polish out the oxidation on my headlights, then fix my gauge cluster. Everything else is done.
