In had a 2004 545/Dunlop Run Flat car and I could not stand it, but I now have a new 545/Eagle F1 GS-D3 and i love it.

It feels like a different car, I am constantly looking for excuses to go driving.

I hope the goodyears remain great to the end and don't turn into tractor tires like the Dunlops.

What is BMW thinking putting those horrible Dunlops on their cars? And to top it off, ignoring complaints.

I have the same setup, and it's much better. These were great tires thru 15,000 miles (when I sold the car) on my E39 540.

One thing - tirerack's having to replace one of my F1s, as it's out of round and won't stop shaking, it's putting out numbers like 33 lbs of road force.

I am at the end of a 2 week battle with my dealer and BMWNA regarding the Dunlop runflats. The "resolution" was 50% off a new set of Dunlop runflats, which just so happen to be on a National backorder. I got tired of the fiasco, nor would I accept another set of Dunlops! Just ordered Michelin Pilot Sports from Tire Rack. Haven't decided if I will continue to deal with BMW or my dealer when my lease is up - probably not.

Hoping the tire switch brings back my Ultimate Driving Machine!

The Goodyears are the best tire's Ive ever had. Great traction in the wet and dry, smooth, quiet, great ride, and I'll probably get close to 30,000 miles out of them.

Do you really think you will get 30K miles on tires with a treadwear rating of 280? 20K would seem more likely, don't you think?

Do you give up some of the handling though? I'm guessing the sidewalls are less stiff. I've heard you comment that the acceleration is quicker.

im glad to here that the Eagle F1 are highly rated out there, as they are on my car I took delivery of this week. last week I was driving a 525d and liked it loads ,but i must say i didn't take any notice of what make of tyres were on it. but this week iv'e got me 535d sport with F1 on' but to make a comparison is difficult decause it's a completely different ride it's exciting and all that power ( it's the best ride I have ever had )

Maybe not, but I checked the tread, and after 9,000 miles it looks almost like new. About 2mm wear, another 6mm to go.

The acceleration is definitely quicker, but mainly due to the wheels, which are 10-12 lbs lighter than the OEM's. The tires are about 4 lbs lighter. I've picked up almost half a second in my standard test - full throttle 3rd gear from 2,000 - 5,000 rpm. I'm running 8.5 seconds with the BBS vs 9.0 seconds with the OEM's.

Thanks for the info. Can you give us some details on the handling and ride quality? Is the steering response slower due to the softer sidewall? I assume its quieter and handles bumps better?
