For what it's worth (not much, I guess), I have to say that I don't "get" the whole license plate frame thing. To me, there's no reason to attempt to dress up the plate -- all the frames end up doing is calling attention to something that should be ignored.

The E60 is a beautiful design with carefully sculpted and crafted lines. Dressing up the plate only takes away from this beauty.

Again, it's purely my opinion so if you like to dress up your plate, knock yourself out and enjoy it. (As long as it isn't one of those chrome "chain" frames... )

I bought some expensive ones from Emmons Coachworks.? They look and feel very high quality but they don't hold up to the New England winters.? The salt damages them.

I bought the clear cover from Weather Tech in black to match. The video on this page is pretty funny.

They held up well over the winter and are still clear.

any suggestions?...USA plates

I'm with you on the advertising issue , I remove all dealer badging as well , as for plates holders, Flat Black or Stainless , both are subtle and understated yet elegant.
Cheers

I'm not much for the "dressed up" license plate frame, but I have always put these frames on my cars. Plain black and keeps the plate clean at all times. It also does not detract from the car in any way, so It seems like a natural for those who want a nice frame, but don't want anything flashy that looks like it came off of a "riceburner" BTW, I always opt for the "Autocross" model, but they have several others too! You can also get a slightly better deal on pairs of these on Amazon.com. Happy Hunting!

I debadged my car to clean up the rear end -- I sure don't want anyone to focus on the license plate frame. I use the most simple, narrow, black metal frame I can find. I got the one I'm using now from a local parts store for probably $5 and it still looks like new.

I looked at this after I posted. This looks like a very nice -- If I find one for a good price maybe I'll upgrade.

a resurrected thread!

well for mine, after getting a fix-it ticket for having a clear plastic covering/frame over my rear plate, i changed it to a simple and narrow silver colored plate holder. matches with my window trim and kidney grills.
