Hey All,

First post!

As the title says, I'm about to get new wheels for my car, but I have a question about the TPMS. I did search, but it didn't answer my question.

I have a 2006 530i with sport package (not sure if it matters), does my car have TPMS? I've read from my searches that there are two different types... FTM and TPMS. In iDrive, I see there is a FTM menu... so I'm assuming I don't have TPMS... do I need to buy anything else other than wheels + tires?

Thanks in advance!

Jae.

I have ftm which is different from tpms. i believe ftm = flat tire monitor. tpms= tire pressure monitor system.

ftm will tell you if your tire is flat. the other will warn you when the psi is getting low. with your setup you will not have to get new tpms sensors. i just got my wheels on about a month ago and didnt have to do it on my 06 530 with ftm.

edit: by the welcome to the forum! post some pictures of your ride before and after the wheels! We love pictures around and here! Good work using the search button! Thats my tip for you right now is use that search function. if you cant find the answers there are a lot of members around here who are extremely helpful and smart!

If you have FTM, and it seems obvious that you do, then you don't need to buy monitors...just rims and tires.

You dont need TPMS sensors since your car is using FTM. You just the rims and tyres. Goodluck..
