I made the mistake of not getting a navigation system with my 545i last year. Not that I miss it that much, but my wife's friends are getting nav systems, so you can imagine the yacking I hear about that... Anyway, it appears that the Garmin Nuvi 360 is a good unit. I'm looking for opinions on its performance / functionality as well as how well it mounts and works inside an E60.

I use GPS quite often and Garmin NUVI is one of the best GPS devises in the market. It's compact and easy to operate(touch screen). The GPS somes with a kit to hold the NUVI and it is quite stable doesnt get too shaky....for your reference

Hi,

I use a Nuvi with a Brodit mount on the vent in between the steering wheel and drivers window. it looks like it came with the car :-)

When I get home I will post a pic for you.

I haven't mounted it, but I have used the Garmin on several ocassions, and yes, it's superior to the OE navi, and light years ahead of the nav in my SL.

I have own 2 Garmin units (Streetpilot and Quest), and I have used the Nuvi before as well. The units are indeed light years ahead of the Nav system in the car (I regret getting mine!). There is also a Nuvi 660 that just came out, so you should check on that as well.

Best part about the Nuvi is out-of-town (rental car) traveling.

When I travel, I input all of my stops as Favorites in the Nuvi prior to leaving my home. Upon pickup of my rental, the Nuvi goes on the windshield and boots up while I am organizing. Then I pull up Favorites and pick my first appt. and go. Using the Nuvi to find gas and food (and even an ATM once) is also invaluable.

Also, when parking the rental, the Nuvi is small enough to fit in my jacket pocket without being noticeable.

ZinMe-I have had BMW nav in past 3 cars. It is slow and ponderous. The interface operates like an old DYMO
stick on label machine-with all the twist and pushing of the i-drive knob. I purchased a Garmin 360 to use in all the rent a cars I drive when traveling....it is a dream. Very accurate. Garmin has the most user friendly interface. Blows the BMW nav system away. For about a 1/4 of the cost.

You in the wine biz??

Garmin seems to struggle to get market share for poratble car nav inside Europe.

TomTom seems to be the market leader in many other territories.

I love red zinfandel and collect wines, but no, not in the wine business. I'm only involved in the consumption business.
