Further Upgrades to Aftermarket Stereo
Hi everyone,
Just posting today about the latest upgrades to my stereo system.
We changed out one of my amplifiers for something higher quality and more power.
Had been running my JL Audio 12W6v2 subwoofer with a JL Audio HD750/1 mono amp. On Monday we pulled that amp out and replaced it with an Audison Voce AV5.1k 5 channel amp. The Voce is delivering 75 Watts x 2 in Class A to run my front stage tweeters, and 140 Watts x 2 in Class AB to run the front stage woofers. We removed the Hertz Mille passive crossovers and now the front speakers are being run Active Crossover from the Audison BitOne. The 5th channel on the Voce amp is delivering 1000 Watts x 1 @ 2 ohms in Class D, which feeds the JL Audio 12W6v2 subwoofer in the E60-specific Stealthbox enclosure.
After completing the new install, we used the new Audison BitTune toolkit to perform an initial tuning session. I have a lot of work to do tweaking the EQ settings and XOver points to find the best response for my taste, but so far I have been absolutely blown away by the improvement in sound quality. I believe the improvement is largely because of going with Active Crossover for the front stage speakers. The sound is so much more clear now, with a new level of detail I've not heard on that system before.
In another week or two I will return to the audio shop for another session on the BitTune to tweak the sound some more.
Anyway, I'll post some pictures soon.
So, my current system is now comprised of the following:
Audison BitOne processor - Fed by the Logic7 amplifier into high level inputs
Audison Voce AV5.1k (5 channel amp)
75 W x 2 - front tweeters
140 W x 2 - front woofers
1000 W x 1 - subwoofer
Audison LRx 4.5 (4 channel amp) - running rear fill
Hertz Mille System MLK2 TW component speakers - front stage
Hertz Hi-Energy System HSK130 component speakers - rear fill
JL Audio 12W6v2 subwoofer in the JL Stealthbox designed specifically for the E60.
