I'm interested in purchasing a front strut brace. I don't want to spend $600 for Dinan's.

I'd like to spend half of that, if possible, and have it still do a solid job of keeping the car rigid in the front.

Any suggestions?

Actually, I was referring to a Strut Tower Brace, not sway bars.
This is the Dinan one, which I don't feel like dishing out $600 for.

http://www.dinancars.com/Series.asp?Series...s%20Tuning#2414

As for sway bars, unfortunately I can't. Shortly after ordering my H&R's, I contacted H&R to ask about their sway bar kit. TireRack, of course, said it was possible to do on the XI in the rear. When I called H&R, they said it was not possible in the rear, but possible in the front. However, they said it made no sense to do one end and not the other.

I believe Racing Dynamics has a E60 strut brace, it maybe less expensive the Dinan. I know AC schnitzer has one, but its like $1200. I have seen some on ebay for cheap prices, but who knows what the quality it like.

There are a few ranging in the high $300's to $600's but the money your saving on those isn't that noticable to sacrifice quality of the brand.. however do you have sway bars? becuase you won't notice much of a difference with a strut brace.. sway bars you can tell night and day.. a set of racing dynamics (racing dynamics >H&R) front and rear sways will run you just under the cost of the dinan strut brace and you'll get three times the handeling preformace from the sways then you would from the strut brace.. just my .02 cents

I really WISH I could do sway bars, but due to the XI, the rear won't work. Not too sure why exactly, since the car does have stock sway bars as it is. As much as I love my XI in the winter...this will be my first and last. I can't deal with all the modding restrictions. It's killing me!...and also probably saving me thousands of dollars at the same time.

Just curious, but what strut braces in the $300 range?

Calton, here's a link for one of the cheapest strut braces I've seen: http://www.procarparts.com/store-list2.asp...at=5&sub=43

There was someone on this board with this brace but I forgot who.

Also, the main purpose of strut braces is to stiffen up your chasis and prevent body flexing over bumps..etc... Sway bars on the other hand will help body roll and handling.

BTW, RDSport does not make strut braces for your car.

Oh yes the limitations of the Xi..... I was told that with the swaybars the front is the one that would not fit and the rear would. I love and hate my xi for the same reasons C! I am really wanting a BBK but not with the xi. but I do love the awd. damned if you do damned if you dont.
