I saw an e60 yesterday that had the front grill painted and it was chipping off quite badly. For the little I know about painting it is all about prep work ie proper sanding and surface preparation it will need a really good primer for the final top coat to adhere to properly... I would ask a good body shop

Cheers

Exactly what I hard also, the prep work is key. I was wondering if I should use sand paper (if so what grade) or just use a scuff pad?

I would use a very fine sand paper maybe 180 grit ,then a black primer, then two cots of your final color coat.Even a flat sealer would be a good idea.
