I found a cable in my car, but the end of it looks to be ripped or pulled off. The cable is coming from where the passenger footwell is, in between two panels. My car says that I have a AUX input in the audio source selections where FM, CD, and SAT is.

It looks like a iPod cable as it's the exact same size as the ipod cable in my other car, but not sure. I looked in my glovebox to see if there is a iPod module, but I do not see anything but a CD changer. This cable has 15 wires within it. I tried putting the audio source on AUX and while I was playing with the loose wires I heard static sounds as the wires made contact with one another.

Can anyone tell me what this wire may be?

I thought that the iPod module mounts to where the CDC is located. Is there another way of mounting the module besides replacing the CDC? Maybe back behind the radio and CD controls?

If this is a iPod cable, where can I get a replacement cable from?

Thanks.

No idea what that cable is but if you have the iPod retrofit, the output is from the CD menu, not the Aux.

Oh and you should have an Aux input plug at the rear of the center console where the rear ventilation controls are located. Plug your iPod in there and see if it works (select Aux in iDrive). Maybe that wire is routed to that jack and someone pulled it out?

My car does not have the AUX in for the earphone jack in the rear seat between the vents. I think the last owner may have retrofitted some sort AUX in for my car. This cable looks much thicker then the regular earphone jack cables. Something tells me that this cable is for a iPod.

This looks like a video cable. If you have an Aux in the menu your car and found this cable that means the cable goes to some sort of auxilary...whether it be an ipod, mp3 player, dvd player or what not. Although you will not get anything on your monitor you will hear it through the speaker system. Trace it out.........it most likely goes to an aux input. If this is the case simply unplug it and get a male to male cable and you can use your ipod. Or this may be directly wired to the back of your M-ASK or CCC (depending on if you have navigation or not) if so then start making a chart. Remember, AUX is not the same as the IPOD retrofit (which uses the CD controls and you can see on the monitor) It's simply a way of using your speaker system for an external device.
