You da man, thanks!

Btw, I thought my E60 530's airbox was closed? How does the scoop actually work if that is the case?

Nice choice in mods i believe!!

Does the SB REALLY make that much of a difference? I've always been very sceptical when it comes to mods like this! As for the RPI Air intake system, have you found that really good? I am doing that mod to my M5 in the new year, and would be nice to hear some feedback from someone who has JUST fitted it.

Yes, the SB makes a very noticeable difference in throttle response. There's actually an M version of the SB for M cars. I used to have the automatic version for my M5 (as was recommended) but switched to the M version when it came out. IMO, the M version seems to be smoother for the M car than the auto version. C's Bimmer also has the M SB.

The RPI scoops is another awesome and proven mod and one of the best bang for your buck. IIRC, gains on an M5 have been around 10-18rwhp on RPI's Dyno Dynamics machine. You should also get the block off plates for $20 to close the opening at the bottom of the airbox to create a more pressurized system and provide MORE power.

(okay Eloy, please send my commission check once Jon places his order). LOL!

Well it is closed in a way but it has to have an inlet for the air to come in, that inlet is the tunnel you see in the step #8 install pics. adding the scoop will direct air into it. So instead of the engine only suck air the scoop will ram air into it.

the scoop is installed in the grill and directs the airflow to maximize the air which goes into the standard airbox..and yes its worth it. As far as the installation goes, its simple and doesn't take much time. As for the sprintbooster, took me less than 5 minutes to install it by following the directions/pictures by a member who started a thread here somewhere I didnt have any problem with fitting the pins and didnt cut the carpet or anything. I would highly recommend both these mods.
Check the classified for the RPI scoop(sold by trinity autosport). I bought the SB from ebay, a seller named PartsExporter.
