'Fake' Shadowline Trim
#42
For shadowline trim, I figure you have three choices
1. Buy the shadowline trim from the dealer. On previous 5ers, the cost was usually around $500-700, but have seen reports as low as $300.
Here is some info on a e39, not sure if it applies though http://www.540i6.com/shadowline.html
2. Take trim off, sand, adhesion promoter, primer, paint (either flat black or a satin finish). If you take the time, you should get a look quite comparable to the OEM trim.
3. Try the tape again. If you take your time, it can look decent

Well, i was thinking to color match the window trim to my car's color. But I'm afraid it will look horrible..
I can confirm...I saw chrome and a very clean car. I actually like the chrome trim, not just trying to make you feel better...it adds dimension and depth to the car.
No, I won't trade though
Thanks GER_545SMG..
The reason why i want a shadowline trim badly is because i'm gonna tint my car pretty soon and IMO the chrome trim with a tinted windows don't really match.. <_< right?

My advice is to get the original hi-gloss shadowline trim from your BMW dealer and have it installed.
Don't try and paint the chrome trim, that will start to peel after a while no matter how much you sand it or prep it.
I did the hi-gloss shadowline upgrade on my E39 and it cost me about $1200.
