I am thinking about changing the stock 172 wheels for 166's and my dealer tells me that this is not an option that can be ordered through the factory(seems crazy to me ), Does anyone know the costs of the 172's and Contis versus the 166's with whatever tire come stock with the M5 ?? My car is in production now and I want to get this set up done for delivery.
Thanks

You may actually find that from the dealer there is no price difference if ordered as accessories. But the 166 is from the 6 series and hence cannot be ordered from the factory and a dealer may even choose to not install it for you.

westcoast - The wheels are only about $100 difference, add the price of the tires and you'll have your answer

Thanks Bruce, I'm pretty sure the 166 is the OEM stock wheel for the M5 ?? That's why I was surprised that the dealer said no. HMMMMMMMMM ???

I had the same experience with my recent company car order...
The M135 18s come as the standard rim with the M-Sport pack in Europe. In my case, the M135 will go in storage for the duration of the lease and I will use my privately owned M166 19s -- I could not order these from the factory. Fortunately with the winter-wheels, these are seen as "accessories" in the company car lease so I could order whatever I wanted via the dealer... i.e. the 19s.
In your case, the dealer can only order the M172 19s from the factory, all other 5er 19s need to be ordered separately as accessories. That means you have to do a deal with your dealer or do it yourself afterwards. From what I have read in the past, I believe the 535i Sport comes with the M135 18s, not the M172 19s as it does on the 550i Sport. Therefore, I think there is probably a good chance that the dealer could offer your M172 19s as part of a 535i Sport "special package" to get his costs back and order the M166s for you separately... and lets face it, BMW owes you!!! (hope that last suggestion makes sense!?)
Good luck...

That way you will save some cash, you will have 1 spare wheel kit by this and you can sell the remaing 4 for $100-150 each at least. Thay are rare and much in request, because many cars been sold with RFTs, aren't equipped with a spare from the factory ...like mine (at least in Europe)
