My Ride: 2005 BMW 545i w/Sports Package
Everyone's Opinion
Hey whats up guys,
Recently bought a 2005 545i, and of course has all the typical things leaking with it. My question is I have an Indy repair shop and they are charging me $7000 for the below listed repairs. What do you guys think. Fair?
Cylinder head - Pull replace valve guide and seals
Vacuum Pump and all related hoses
Replace water pump and thermostat
Timing cover gaskets
Alternator gasket (Leaking behind)
The dreaded coolant pipe
and than any and all gaskets related to these repair
Complete service (oil , filter, etc)
New shift knob (old one was peeling away)

That does sound a little steep IMO. Is it a very reputable BMW shop or one that you've been going to for a while now? Does that include sending the heads out and making sure to get them resurfaced if need be?
I'd like to see others chime in to see what they think as well.

Ya, that also includes machine work. The shop is probably the best ones in my area. After looking around on this forum I have found people getting charged that just for doing the coolant pipe, and the coolant pipe being installed is the factory one and not the expandable one from all german auto.
