I just spoke to Jeff at Eurobahn in California. I told him the following specs on my car and here's what he came back with:

2007 530i w/ the following mods:
2) AFE CAI
3) Aftermarket exhaust
4) Super Unleaded fuel grade in NY: 93 Octane

He said I could expect 30+HP and 26lbs+ of torque. He also said that was a conservative number and he felt it would probably be even higher.

Does that sound right to you guys? Those are some pretty significant numbers. Cost was $699. Take into account the cost of the AFE CAI and the exhaust and I'm looking at $1100 for 30+ HP gains. Not too shabby...

Singh & Turner claimed around 20HP increase. Singh may cost less and Turner cost more so if the HP increase is that much with that price that would be cool.

$1,100 for 30hp is an awesome trade-off.

If it's realistic or not, I don't know. Seems like most tuners have said that there's not much gain to be had from a normally aspirated engine these days.

That does not seem like a bad trade off. I want to do this but dont know what company to use and who has the best bang for my buck. I really want to F/I this thing but 10k is a scary number.

I actually had a call with Travis at Powerchip this morning. He went through every detail of their software remap. At the wheels, I would technically be looking at 12-15 HP gains, which at the flywheel works out to around 20 or so HP. I told him about the Eurobahn quote and he said that seemed a bit aggressive. He said that Powerchip remaps around 25 maps on my chip, which takes about 8-9 minutes per map. Since we have 93 octane fuel as the standard for super unleaded, here in NY, he could remap the fuel timing which would make the greatest difference. He said the gains would definitely be noticeable and enjoyable.

They are also offering a $50 coupon over on M5Board and extended that offer to me. They normally charge $640, so now it would be $590.

Hmmm.....

Now C that sounds more realistic. Not a bad choice of chip company either. Does Dinan make a chip?

Not for our model E60. Only for the 545/550.

I think I may pull the trigger on it. I'm going on vacation next week for a few days with the wife, so I could Fed Ex them my chip and have it back, upon my return. They said you need to drive your car around 80 miles or so for the car to start learning the new changes that were made.

I'm also leaning towards Powerchip because this is all they do, which I like. This is their specialty. I get the feeling that regardless of what company you go with, they are all pretty much identical at the end of the day. If there are any differences in their remap, it's gotta be pretty negligible, no?
