Hi folks,

I have been considering upgrading my EU standard audio on my 520d SE. I have been reading various threads on this on the forum over the last month and totally agree that the standard audio is way below par. My wife's 8 yr old Mk IV Golf has a much better sound !

My EU standard system has 8 speakers in total (2 mids in door, 2 mids in rear shelf, 2 woofers under fron seats).

I have read that many of you haver upgraded your systems. I am on a very, very tight budget and therefore do not want to go mad at all, as my wife will kill me if she finds out I am spending more money on the car.

I have decided to do the following.

1. Tweeters - Add the OEM L7 tweeters to the front door and rear dec, it looks like they should connect directly to the existing mids which I intend to keep.

2. Woofers - Upgrade the standard EU woofers under each seat to the OEM L7 woofer, as I think the L7 woofer will take the punishment dealt out by the aftermarket amp I intend to add. I have seen that many of you have opted for the Earthquake SWS-8 sub - however I think the L7 will be cheaper.

3. Woofer amp - Buy a low cost aftermarket 2 channel amp (suggestions pls) to drive the L7 woofers. Install the amp in the boot. I would use the high level speaker output to the existing sub and stick it through the amp with no filters switched on - as I beleive the current signal to the sub is full range.

I would be grategul if anyone has views on the above (or has any L7 speakers for sale !).

Questions.

1. Is the L7 sub better than the EU standard Sub, and therfore worth upgrading ?
2. If I install the amp in the boot, where can I get the power from - I don't really want to go to the battery in the front. note that I don't have an amp in the boot like the Hifi audio.
3. Where do I get a 12v signal to switch the amp - I don't have a power outlet in the boot - as I have a standard car (sob!).
4. Can someone recommend the lowest cost amp I should consider installing.

Sorry the under floor subs are not included. I can do the set of tweeters for ?110 with postage. Yes I'll take Paypal but would prefer a bank transfer or cheque in the UK. The Paypal fees are just plain stupid.
