It appears to be a hit or miss. I have installed lowering springs without changing the shocks every time I have owned modified a car. I have never had premature failure on a shock before and I have done this several times throughout my driving history. All the cars I have done this to had many miles after the intial spring install and never once a problem. Now I can tell you it will make the ride smoother if you do upgrade.

having 88K miles with original shocks, you are due for a new one anyway. I suggest when you change the springs to change the shocks as well. Save you the cost of another installation cost.

well I started the install today! Keeping the factory non-sport shocks with the eibach pro-kit for the time being and I started with the rear. The pass side rear is the biggst PITA because of the filler neck but after finally out-smarting the car
I was able to get the rear fully completed today...so now I have questions...Im no stranger to lowering springs or vehicle mods so Im used to the "settling" factor of springs, but with JUST THE REAR Eibachs installed with the factory non-sport front my car sits completely level! I net about .5"s on both the rears but the springs are stated to be 1.2", people who have installed these before are you experiencing over .5" of drop after settling? IF it doesnt settle much more I may just leave the Eibachs in the rear and stock up front as I hate how most aftermarket coils set nose down in the front, I want my car level......Initial reaction from the coils is AWESOME though! Idk if it was because my factory coils had 88k miles but the Eibachs feel much smoother in the rear through cycles and hitting bumps, a bit softer I would say suprisingly.
just for more input on stance, here is another members car with eibach pro-kit with 20s and not to hate on his car and dont mean any disrespect, but I DO NOT want my car to have a stance like this...anybody else with a little more insight to the eibach pro-kit stance?

You may get another .25" from the rear. 1.2" is a joke! It will have a rake if you install the fronts. Should have gone H&R if you wanted level. That pic is a perfect example of how the Eibachs look...raked!

I remember talking to an expert who recomended an allignment after 1 week (if you dont plan on driving the car more than 250 miles) and then after 4 months. SO give yourself sometime. Those spirngs will settle.
