Man...I wish I knew some people over there.
It would be very difficult w/o a lift and yes you do need a spring compressor.

Talk to the guys in the service department. Lots of times they will recommend someone they know. I imagine in the DFW area, there are several good shops that could do it. Probably even run by former BMW techs.
