I got an e-mail back from Bruce. I must say I am very impressed with his amount of knowledge and professionalism. He offers a "Custom" tune for each vehicle dependent on the mods. that are on the car. This is not a generic re-map. If we can get a few of the same vehicles for a remap, we could probably work out a deal. Or maybe we could win a discounted one at the meet. Not sure if it a one day turn around as he will send the ECU to another facilty for the remap. Just wanted to share with everyone. Horsepower number for the 545i seem to be 21hp/16tq throughtout the entire powerband.

You guys think it'll make any difference for a 2004 530i? I've got CAI intake and xpiped exhaust, and sprintbooster. I wonder if its worth it on my end.

1 day turn around time is nice.. but I wouldn't even know how to get back home.. Do I sleep at the shop? LOL.

Can anyone explain where and how to remove your ECU? Is there a DIY somewhere?

Mike and everyone, as I said, if you ship it out on Monday, we can get it back as soon as Tuesday.

And if you do go with the competition, please dyno and compare to r1racer's dyno that is proven for gains. Also check with BMWRINO who recieved the re-map last weekend when Jesse and Vincent @ EuroRev visited SONICMS to do the remap for their grand re-opening.

I'm about 10 minutes from Bruce. You could come stay at my place while the work is being done.

Calton,

I believe Bruce sends the ECU's out to someone else. At least that's how it sounded in his e-mail. They may be local as well, not sure. I am still up in the air between tuners. I am considering EuroRev (Speed Innovations), Singh Autosport and Tuning Technologies (Bruce). What was your take on Singh? I heard they are pretty good as well. I believe VT had it on his 545i and loved it. Can Bruce hook us up witha GB?

No, here's what Bruce does. Based on the EXACT specs of your car, along with any additional mods, Bruce gets the remap designed SPECIFICALLY for your car from his Engineer. The engineer sends him the program which he uploads into your car when you bring it to him. This is what he does for all his MB, Ferrari, Porsche and Lambo clients. You get the car back the same day. Your ECU never leaves the premises. Also, I think it's important to note that there are about 25 uploads that consists of a "remap". That's why they need at least a half a day. Should there be a hiccup during upload, they'll need to start over. It's just like a downloading a program into your computer that has 25+ steps. I actually learned this from speaking to Singh and PowerChips, which was also confirmed by Bruce.

I considered everyone you mentioned above. I went local because should I need a reflash for whatever reason, it's easy and I don't have to go without having my car for another 2-3 days. At the end of the day, it's all going to be about the same regardless of who you go with. What it comes down to is, price and convenience. For this particular mod, local made the most sense.

Thank you for clearing that up. So many choices. I hope to get this done before the meet. Does Bruce work on Saturdays? I will try to call him tomorrow.
