after reading members feed backs regarding the rear air suspension problems,i.e to look at the hose / where on the old types it cracks and lets air out etc...i got on the case and had the new type hose fitted... less than two months after i have the dashboard failure sign up , showing air susension faliure....

is it a case of a new pump ? or is ther anything else that can be checked?

Since you do not seem to be getting any responses, trust you have seen: https://5series.net/forums/topic/775...sion-failures/ and there are many others.

Once you start getting suspension control system fault or failure warnings, the inevitable cure is pump replacement. This is due to unfiltered air entering the broken compressor intake tube. The pump begins to fail and the preprogrammed settings throw a warning. BMW apparently have released a redesigned compressor and control module around 2007 I believe (the control relay is also replaced at the same time) - you may be lucky and get a reduction in replacement costs around £1000. It really isn't a DIY as new settings have to be programmed. In any event, if the air bags run out of air they will be ruined if the car settles down.

This and tailgate wiring failures seem to be a regular E61 feature.
