Hi guys, having played around for quite awhile with a few different media interfaces and various attempts at getting an Android system integrated into the stock screen in my 535d I have finally got a system which I am pretty pleased with so thought I would share.

As a previous project I had upgraded the CCC system to CIC, the Android system works in a similar way to the other media interfaces by intercepting the LVDS cable as it enters the screen.

The device gives 1220x480 resolution on the stock CIC screen and operates just like an Android tablet.

It has a SIM card slot for data and supports bluetooth, wifi, 3G and GPS.


I have used an SD card extension cable to route down into the glovebox so that I can add extra files as needed.

It is a full android system, so you can download any apps you want from the play store, you can access the internet and any email or social media as you want.

I have linked the audio out into the Aux port on my E60 and I use it to play MP3s using PowerAMP.

Personally I think it is pretty slick and looks really good installed and in my opinion also pretty stock too.

If anyone is interested I have another spare unit with touchscreen which I would be happy to sell.

I ended up with 2 as I thought I broke the first one initially and got a replacement but in the end it was just a simple software fix.

 

how much the screen?

 

The screen is the built in Satnav screen from the CIC idrive. The only addition to it is a touchscreen panel.

The android integration itself has cost around £300, the touch pad is about £50 from memory. There is no programming required for this part at all.

The previous CIC upgrade I think came in at around £800 including the coding which the supplier did remotely after I'd done the install.

If you already have CIC I think the android system is pretty good value really.

Thanks for the info. I'm pre-LCI and just have CCC, so this would be a major undertaking for me if I were to convert.

 

This is awesome mate been looking around for smin like this. Please can you be so kind to provide the kit list you used. Apart form the cic nav system which I already have.
Need to know what android system, interface to the cic system , and anyother items you used. Thanks.
