Looking in the E60.net classifieds, and there really aren't too many wheels for sale. However, its a completely diff. story on E46fanatics.com b/c of the huge number of E46 owners. My question is, will wheels from an E46 fit an E60? Do they have the same bolt patterns? Will I have any problems fitting some 19''s from an E46 (most likely and M3) on my 545?

I think the problem would be the offset not the bolt pattern.

They dont fit

I have already tried to fit my spare set of M3 19"s.

The rears fit but the fronts fowl on the suspension , i had also read somewhere that the rears would fit on the front but they dont.

So i have to stick to E60.net for wheels huh? Man, we need to get more people on here so there's more in the classifieds...you look at E46, there's a new page of classifieds each day, here, there's only one page...total

Hey gents,
I had a set of 18" M3 snow tires that I fit to my 545. The bolt pattern is the same, but I had to move the M3 rims from the rear to the front to clear the shocks and the front rims to the rear. Since the rear tires were wider on the larger off-set rims, I ended up having the tires remounted switching the fronts to the rears and the rears to the old front rims. Ideally, if you could get two sets of rear M3 rims, your offset would be correct. Anyway, I didn't experience any driveability problems with this set-up and since it is only for a few months in the winter, I lived with it.

If this was for summer driving, I would get strongly suggest getting the proper offset wheels all the way around.

The offset (ET) of the e39/e60 is 22mm +/- 10mm depending on whether it is front or rear and width of rim. Hub diameter of the e60 is 72.5mm.
The ET of e46 is 40mm +/- 10mm. I don't know what the hub diameter is.
AC Schnitzer uses spacers on their Type IV wheels to fit the same wheel on the e46 and e60. Spacers suck though.

not too familiar w/ what spacers are, heard of them before don't know what they are...what are thye exactly? "spacers" that you put in between the wheel and the axel to adjust offset?

Spacers are cylindrical bits of metal that fit between the hub and the mounting surface of the wheel. They are used to push the wheels out towards the fenders. The ACS Type IV wheels come with a 40mm offset so they fit on the e46 without spacers. However, on the e60/61/63/64, you have to put a 8mm to 25mm spacer to achieve the required offset (32mm to 15mm) for these cars.
Using this 'modular' system, ACS doesn't have to manufacture 2 different range of wheels for the two different offset patterns required by these cars.
The problem with spacers is that they require longer lug nuts, which means you are putting a lot of stress on these bolts. Another problem is that some spacers aren't that well made, and that leads to problems with vibrations and mis-alignment.
Hope that helps.

no, e39 and e60 have different hub sizes.
e39 has 74.1mm wheel hub, e60 has 72.56mm wheel hub.
