I've got lots of help through this discussion board to do the mod to my 530i E60 2005 model, I'd like o contribute to providing a set up of the quad type exhaust on E50 5 series, hope this could help to the ones who want to do the conversion:
Initially I was trying to get Remus exhaust that had the fake outlet extension, but their lead-time was till next Feb 2010 so I dropped it and went for Magnaflow custom made. I didn't want the exhaust to be too loud and the fake outlet really makes it look too fake at daytime, so I had it installed with MagnaFlow "X" type of muffler in the ctr. of the ground, then have two extensions going out with resonator added for each one to silent the exhaust (I didn't want it to sound like muscle cars...!!!) I had the pipe extension painted in black, and I went for a custom made tip that originally designed to fit Mercedes AMG type, but I had it cut and fit to my car, the tip has a design that actually the smokes comes out at the bottem not from the tips, so the tips will always be cool and will not burn your bumper or color fade... After all, I enjoyed the sound when starting the car, it sounds M5 like and if you go at low speeds has the trumble of M5 sound (a little louder) going 40~50mph, but when speed picks up the sounds are being eliminated due to the resonator installed. Turned out what I wanted... see below pics...

Looks great!! I like the tips you chose ... +1 on the video,.
Is it necessary to have the "extra" 2 round mufflers?
