Test: Is this a fake M5 or not?
Who can tell? (on the road) Maybe it is, or maybe it isn't
Me, likes fake M5s. They making slow minds think faster...
Niko - even though you gave the answer up already, I would have voted that you can tell from the front view pic that it is a mod by the hood not matching as close with the spoiler especially around the front headlight (larger gap that M5)...the side view suggests that the wheels are a bit off...or is it the angle...in any case..Bravo re paides Ellinwn..your modes are very tasteful...except for the emblem...I voted to debadge it all and let the m-tech aero do its thing...I left my 2004 530i stock and decided that I would mod the next one just to cross that off the "bucket list"...now the M5 will be the checkmark I will enjoy the most...

Just forget all the comments you read here. GO FOR IT. Thats what you want, your car, your money. Them haters are trying find excuses. Fake or not fake, you deal with it, not them. Laught at those putting on replica ACS, Hamman kits, putting Quad exhaust and still saying "blah blah blah" about your M5 conversion. Do whatever you want with your car.

Nice story vl20sas
I agree with you.
Passion characterize most of us people here.
We love and mod our cars.
We all wish we could afford an M5 but its way too expensive, otherwise we would have bought it.
I suggest go for it and if you have any questions interior or exterior modification i would love to help you too.

Alexander, there is not any difference at headlights and around, also the M5 is 1cm "taller" than any Msport E60 because of its 20mm bigger wheels diameter. Bigger wheels, they need more space to work, The M5 fenders are 1cm wider giving space at those bigger wheels do their job. There is not difference there as well. The M5 wheel carriers are already installed on his car.

You know, some people are doing the job step-by-step, little by little. (Like I do)
Anthony will do the job in 2 steps. His first step was the in and out M5 appearance and functionality ...BTW, his M5 active seats are working just perfect.
We all do know here and everyone who is asking about what car is this, is it a real M5? (and we accept) that Anthony's car has been transformed to "M5 look" (at this time) It isn't M-pack look it's M5 look (bumpers - fenders - wheels - brakes - strut bars - exhaust, etc, etc) Mine is M-pack, again transformed.
Anyway, Anthony is looking seriously for the V10 to install some time soon.
I know (it has been discussed many times in the past) that you can buy the real thing from the beggining here for ?138K or, a used one for ?95-110K.
This one will cost much-much less than ?90K (maybe less than 65K) and the most important thing (that all moders do/correct me if I'm wrong) you do live the magic, it is an awesome experience, some guys don't like at all, but some others they love what they are doing to their cars and enjoy it.
You guys with the leased cars and the long term warranty (4-5 years or 100K miles/160K km ...unbelievable) no offence, but you cannot do this kind of modifications. I'm sure, many of you, would like to do something more to your cars but the answer is simple. You can't, it's illegal.
We have a 2year warranty here. Nothing more. No free oil changes, no free brake rotors/pads replacing, no warranty extension possibility, no cheap gas, no half-priced cars (more or less, comparing US market to EU market, except Germany and UK where the prices are more reasonable). The good point is that after that short warranty period expires, at least we can do any mod we like, of course under our own responsibility. Let us have fun with our little or bigger mods.
Why don't you sit and enjoy what others doing to their cars? Sometimes the results are -at least- acceptable. I've seen other members's modded cars, which I didn't like at all about what they were doing to their cars, but I never wrote a negative comment to those guys. I just don't speak, because I know that when somebody has already modded his car, he only wants to listen to good comments.
In contrast, there is a major difference when someone is asking other members their opinions about a future mod he is thinking to do.
I -most of the times- am giving him my suggestions thinking by my personal point of view i.e. "why don't you try this wheel instead the one you're thinking? it will match better to your car's color, mods, etc" but finally he is free to choose anything he like and not what others were suggesting him. In case that the final result is not so good, for my taste again, I couldn't make any comments, it would be a total discouragement for him because it's his decision, his own car and his own taste. I'm just looking the pics without making any comments...
Just my thoughts, sorry, I've been talking too much this time ...extraordinary

You should pay more attention to such details.
However also the quad is not the M5's as this has only two mufflers while the OEM M5 has four one for each tip.
By the way nice quad, which brand is it?
1st of all i have an 545i with a full m5 package except the front bumper and mirros at this point. i have a m-tech front bumper. if you like the look of the m5 do it. nothing is fake. i have an m5 badge on the trunk and on the fenders. i dont have the brakes done yet though. let me say this. i can afforrd an m5 because i have a supercharged vette convertible and this car as well as a acura truck. i like the entire look of the m5 but i use my car to commute. i dont want a gas guzzling v10 as i live in nyc were gas is now 355 a gallon. the v8 is a better economical car as to the commuting. i wish i could have bought a diesel version and converted it.if someone asks me if it is a m5 i will say no. and if someone thinks they want to race well i go to my garage and pull out my 650 hp supercharged vette and smoke anyone except maybe a bugatti. so if you want to do a complete m5 conversion? do it. dont listen to people who say its not real. you like the looks and nothing is wrong with that. the m emblem represents motorsports which is a tuner for bmw. so you can add any m items to your car or any bmw for that matter. so the haters that say its fake are exactly that: haters! the m5 is a ridiculously overpriced car. 98000 us? wat the hell. if you can get a 530i sport and add 7000 into it to get an replica of a m5 why would you not want to? better yet you can add a dinan supercharger to a 530i along with the m5 kt and get more horses than a m5 and it will cost you 35-40000 less.

Yes Nick it is a fake. M5 does not come with standard air conditioning but only with the advanced one.

Yes I know, there are many other things but from the outside looks convincing, in the very first view.
The exhaust is custom-made by the owner himself.
BTW Santiago PMed me this photo from our meeting in Germany. Please remind me (or PM me) who are you in the row, because I forgot ...It's been a long time
Also, I can't see Iceman, where Iceman has been during that shot?
edit: Ok I found where Iceman is ... far behind in the left side group
Not my case, but if I ever owned a so well transformed 530 to M5 by spending more than 10-15 thousands Euros on it, I would prefer to let others discover whether my car is an original M5 or not, than telling straight "my car is 100% fake" by non putting the M5 badge on it.
Of course, I would tell anybody the car's actual displacement (whenever asked)
