Nice Results...

What kind of transmission do you have leggo (i'm sure i missed it somewhere)?
Al has Steptronic. We have modified our need for strictly SMG or 6speeds on the dyno. It's a little more effort on our part, but what can we do when the majority of e60 owners drive Steptronic?

Also, I will be selling the exhaust to everyone here on e60.net...so watch out for it in the classifieds

Why is your stock dyno figure so low?

Now please keep in mind that my 2004 530i is underpowered to start with.... I know, please don't remind me that I shoulda bought the 545i , but with that said. RPI's scoop and new exhaust have given me a little something to smile about!

Thanks Eloy and Joe from RPI! Joe, please feel free to chime in with and explanation of the numbers, as I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. I will say that I can "feel" a difference in power during hard acceleration.. I guess my "butt dyno" wasn't lying to me!

Bone Stock

Stock vs. w/RPI scoop

Stock vs. RPI exhaust

The only thing that we didn't do was dyno it with both the scoop and exhaust together.

wow this thread came back from the dead LOL. Al your thread is alive

the reason why the stock number seem low is because the dynomometer RPI uses is a dyno dynamics brand (which calculates wheel horse power).
other brands like dynojet calculate crank horse power, which is usually higher becuause they do not account for the drive train loss. I'm not sure what the exact formula to calculate for the dyno dynamics but you should add roughly 20% (199.8 CHP) to the base dyno and you will get the CHP. hope this helped

A dynojet doesn't doesn't typically calculate for fly wheel horse power. It's the same rear wheel HP reading other dynos test for.

In fact, DynoJets are typically HIGHER reading dynos than others. (Mustang Dyno's showing lower numbers.)

I'm a little curious as to why BMW would even put a 165 rwhp power plant in a heavy car. It doesn't make sense, especially given what you pay for the car in the first place.

Good gains from the mods, though. It's making me give serious consideration to the RPI scoops and some drop-ins for my M5.
