I believe that in the settings menu of the ACM module you can read the CP version and date.

My Ride: BMW M5 E60 (2005, Black)

Hello - my first post to this forum so please bear with me!

I am in the process of installing a camera system into my E60 M5 for track day use - currently sourcing parts and planning hardware placement - when I stumbled across this thread. Sounds like this could be an interesting addition to me.

My planned system in a nutshell consists of the following: 2 screen mounted bullet cams (front & rear), fed into a Picture-in-Picture mixer box (full screen front, PIP for rear), output from this through a device which overlays a GPS speed reading onto the video, output from this to a hard-disk (high-quality) based portable recorded with screen that'll sit in the glove box.

Now with the addition of this ACM thingy into my plans I was thinking I could ALSO do the following: use a spliter on the output on each of my cams and having one of each feed going into my PIP mixer (as above) and the other going into the ACM units 'Front' and 'Rear' cam inputs, thus giving me a 'live' view via my iDrive screen, then also using a third splitter to split the feed going into my recording device and have this aditional feed going into one of the ACMs generic inputs and thus being able to use the iDrive screen to see this combined picture too (admittedly slightly pointless, but for the price of an extra splitter and cable why not?!).

Bottom line - what do you friendly/helpful people think? Any chance of working?!?! Key question I think here is are the cam inputs into the ACM standard or bespoke BMW (ie. maybe carrying power or something as well as the composite video signal)? I'm guessing/hoping they are as someone else has suggested using 3rd party cams instead of the pricey BMW offereings.

Lastly, while on the subject of this installation, I looking for somewhere to put some control switches for this and other electrical additons - simple on/off type switches x 4, ideally with some kind of LED indication as to the status (ie. on or off!). My primary objective us not to spoil the interior of the car or make them look out of place, and I quite fancy the idea of trying to stick them at the bottom of the front-centre console - below the nav DVD drive and amoungst the DSC / heated seats / PDC etc buttons - certain seems space for another four buttons here.. wondering if there is a BMW part that actually offers more buttons (ie. for additonal functions that I maybe do not have on my vehicle) or whether it is more a case of just trying to closely match them and cutting away.

FYI - relavent spec of my car is: Professional NAV, TV & Logic-7.

Sorry for the long first post and thanks for any advice that anyone might offer in advance!

Simon

I am still struggeling with the Rear view camera..... the monitor changes to camera view when I engage reverse but for some reason the there is no camera picture. I am working with the BMW organization in my country but they do not have any experience with hooking up a rear view camera to the ACM module.

I guess I need to talk to an engineer in Munich to get this resolved.

Just out of curiosity, are you trying to fit an original BMW camera or a third party one? What else have you hooked up to the module?
