Dear,
I have heard that there is a possbility to bring over the audio and video of a DVD via a most connection. some programming need to be done and than the TV menu will be visible. When you click on the TV menu(which is normally for the factory build in tv, but you dont have), you see the DVD player screen view.
You can then use the Idrive to switch to the audio video input.
Where does this comes from ? pictures?

Yes, this possible. I installed such an adapter in the 535d of M-Power (also on this forum). Its a module which comes into the most ring (fiber optic), and needs to be programmed by BMW so it is recognised as an OEM TV Tuner. Then, you will have an extra option called 'TV' in your menu (idrive). When you select 'TV' in the menu, images + stereo sound from the DVD player can be heard/seen through the oem screen.

Company is called AIV (www.aiv.de).
Prices are :

TV module : 499 euro
Module to watch tv while driving : 299 euro
BMW E60 cable adapter : 79 euro (no need to cut in to the existing wiring).
+/- 1 hour of BMW dealership time to activate the module.

The tv module has 4 RCA connectors :

1. Video PAL connector
2. Video NTSC connector
3. Left audio connector
4. Right audio connector

I live in belgium by the way, but AIV should have dealers in other european countries as well.

Awtch still kinda pricy. Thought you didn't need the TV module to watch it...

BTW: if you can (and want to) give me your details for a possible meeting @: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=27532

The TV free module is optional ofcourse, works perfect without it, but only when you're not driving
