DINAN CAI
DINAN STAGE 2
WISH LIST:
RPI SCOOPS
BODY KIT
NEW FEET (RIMS)
"Already have stage 1. will need at least stage 2"
Looks nice, but GL with gettng the stage 2 installed. I have had it on my previous 540i and initally on this car before i moved up to stage 3 last week. Both times I was told they would not do it unless I had the ACTUAL Dinan CAI, both places were firm on this. Also for stage 3 you will have to have the Throttle body. Again GL.

Use the clamp to clamp the m5 duct onto the 3" piping. Make sure it sits perfectly flush inside the m5 duct. Cant take pix since u cant even see it. Put ur hand in so u can feel the 3" tubing is not too deep into the m5 duct. U want the FULL pressure and flow INTO the 3" tubing. Picture this....the big piece is the M5 duct and the small piece is the 3 inch tubing:

The previous post didnt work out so well. Here's a quick drawing from paint. You want to maximize airflow going in and nopt have a tube sticking into it causing a little bit of restriction. Or a coupler would work but it's hard to fit in.
Oh yeah. BTW, top is good, bottom is bad. I tried it and there's a slight difference in the butt dyno

and 1 more thing... the patience is your friend when you install the M5 duct (you don't need to remove the front bumper).
Make sure you drill the hole on the intake right top of the main duct. I did a big mistake when I drilled bottom (it will have trouble when you plug the pipes due the cables of the coolant system blocking). Look the picture of the DINAN intake so you will understand better. Do properly the measures before you drill.
I can't wait to see your pixs!

Remove right headlight assembly. Snap the M5 duct in place. Route flex hose into duct.
Bolt the intake mount to the filter box. Fabricate rubber gasket (I used a scrap bike rubber interior).
Mark the hole with a marker.
Smooth the surface for good fit. I used a Dremel to grind the fins and cut the hole.
Again, smooth the hole by sanding with Dremel for good airflow. Do clean the filter box when done.
Spray painted both scoops for color match.
Done for now. I'll return the unused parts tomorrow and get another 6" duct.

Wonderful!
Good Job!
I noticed that you wrapped the throttle/MAF tube. That is a good idea!
