Why not staggered? Error on idrive?

Oh, to the OP, if you keep cutting the springs, you won't have any strut travel in the front. You could be bottomed out just sitting still, on the bump stops of course. The xi struts just don't have enough room in front for a big drop. And I can assure you that you are sitting on your stops as is...not good.
Am i wrong? correct me if so, but i read somewhere that the staggered set up will throw an error somewhere?

Sorry...just busting your chops. Yeah, you can go staggered on the xi. The OEM 124's for the xi are staggered, and the X5 also comes staggered if you want. I believe the X3 does as well. You won't get any errors. Lots of folks here with xi's run (ran) staggered......C, Blastiwi, myself, and on and on.

Yep, you are wrong. I had staggered on my 530xi and had zero issues. It worked great. So did a lot of other XI owners. It's an absolute myth.

Oh, and my X5 came stock with Staggered 20's, straight from the factory. It's the same XDrive system that's in the E60xi. If that's not correct, someone needs to call BMW and tell their engineers to stop what they are doing!!!

And lastly, how do you explain this...

You got balls cutting coils off, good luck with that. I would have started by cutting the bump stops instead, that would have dropped your ride and resulted in increased strut travel as well.

I'm running staggered with 10" on the back, never seen a single error btw.

If i were to change my stock struts with bilsteins or something good like those, would the ride be stiffer like stock? Overall the car rides good. But If can make it stiffer, I would. I think the bit of bounce is do to the h&r springs. But like I said, I rides GOOD!!!

Ok, here is my wheel dilemma, I want run the miro 935's in 20's but I heard I can't. Someone please help with this..
Here is the exact response I got. I hope the techs are wrong...

"Alright, I spoke w/ the people over at Miro and E60 Xi models are only able to run 19x8.5" all round due to the suspension setup. 19" staggered will rub even w/ sport suspension and the 20" offsets will stick past the fender.

Cut springs are never a good idea..they never feel right and after a while, the bouncing will get out of hand. Be sure to invest in some Advil or Tylenol because headaches will be common after taking a ride. Honestly, its best to spend a little coin and do it right. Do you really want your 5 doing jumping jacks down the street? Good luck!

The xi does not have a sport suspension, first of all.....the sport package on the xi has nothing to do with the suspension. It just adds some other options like comfort seats, sport steering wheel, shadowline, etc.

And of course you can run 20's as long as the offsets are right. The staggered setup will NOT rub if done correctly, whether 19" or otherwise. Now, yours is dropped with cut springs, so you could have more issues than most....so you'd have to make sure the offsets are dead-on.

IF those Miro's are not the correct offset, then keep looking. And Miro should know better than to make a dumb statement about not being able to use a staggered setup on the xi. They're just plain WRONG. How many times do we have to say it? Most of us run (ran) 245/35/19 F and 275/30/19 R with NO problems.

Quick Reply: dropped xi on h&r sports (cut too) lol
