Unhappy

so i finally got my magnaflow 14816 put in (3.5" tips) and i noticed that when im at a light, i can hear the muffler and it kinda vibrates the car too. Is this normal? maybe the muffler is breaking in? or did the guys at the shop screw something up?

ok so now that i checked closely, the tips are sticking out a little more than i wanted, Argghh pretty frustrating because i even made sure to mention to him about the tips sticking out. And the vibration is throughout the car, im sure it shouldn't be like this, otherwise people would go insane.

Droning is common, I know for the B&B mufflers, I can get a device that is added to the exhaust tubing just before the muffler and it greatly reduces the droning! If you are interested and or can't find a solution to your Magnaflow drone, I could probably get my guy at B&B to make one for you too, let me know!

droning is very normal for those types of mufflers, you also might be experiencing some resonance as well.

Muffler packing is usually what they try to reduce it. I would just get a RPI exhaust. With all the messing around you will end up doing to make the mag the way you want it, the RPI is already that way.

GL with getting it all sorted out. I have the Magnaflow muffler and get no vibrations but at times a significant amount of droning.

An exhaust hung with no rubber isolators will cause droning/ vibration. Check and make sure the mounts have some kind of bushing, and that they did not hard mount them to the frame/ car. You can get a resonator mounted "inline" before the muffler to help reduce drone

yea i hear you guys, i think i mistaked droning for vibration and cabin noise. The droning is fine, but my car is shaking/vibrating while im standing still, no revving. I am going back to the shop today and telling them to put the tips farther in and fix my annoying vibration problem.

if it's vibrating, then they hard mounted it with no insulator bushings

Update- Went back today, vibration is fixed and i told him to set the tips back a little bit, he showed me before welding, it looked good. When i get home i look back and there out again. I noticed something very strange and wanted to see if this is normal. Apparently when i drive the car, afterwards the tips stick out more. After i leave the car out in the cold for about an hour the tips retract back inside. I know it sounds crazy, but have you guys noticed this also?
